Cagrilintide is a long-acting, lipidated analog of the pancreatic hormone amylin. It carries a fatty acid side chain that extends its half-life in preclinical models. Supplied lyophilised for laboratory research.
Research Summary
Native amylin is co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells. In-vitro binding assays have characterised cagrilintide across the amylin receptor subtypes (AMY1, AMY2, AMY3) and the calcitonin receptor. Rodent and non-human primate models have been used to study its effects on food intake, gastric emptying and body weight, including activity in the area postrema and the nucleus of the solitary tract. It has also been studied alongside GLP-1 receptor agonists in preclinical combination research.
Storage and Handling
Store the sealed lyophilised vial at minus 20 degrees Celsius for long-term preservation, or 2 to 8 degrees Celsius for short-term storage. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and protect from light. Allow vials to equilibrate to room temperature before opening to limit condensation.
